Basic Equipment Needed For All Cats

1. A set of food and water bowls ... some cat owners prefer 2 food bowls (hard & soft food, as well as a water dish).


2. A cat bed or special blanket that they can identify as their own. Cats are very territorial, when it comes to this type of thing.


3. A good cat brush, available at all pet and pet supply stores.


4. A cat carrying case for car trips to the vet etc.


5. A covered litter box, which is best for minimal odor. They come in a variety of sizes and types.


6. Good quality clumping cat litter, and a litter box scoop.


7. Cat box deodorizer, especially if you've chosen unscented litter.


8. A scratch post. They come in all shapes and sizes, and are essential to prevent your cat from clawing your furniture.

Feeding etc.

1. Buy a good quality hard cat food, and keep a serving in their bowl at all times, as cats are nibblers, and don't normally eat all of their food at one time.


2. Choose a variety of soft food (if you wish), as some cats find this hard to digest. Ask your vet, if not sure.


3. Most cats enjoy cat treats, which can be purchased at many stores, and come in a variety of flavors, some even with Tartar control for their teeth.


4. Contrary to popular opinion from years gone by, water is the best drink for your cat.


5. Occasional people food is okay, such as tuna, meat, etc., but should be kept to a minimum.
